Once established in your dog, heartworm disease can be difficult and costly to eradicate. However, preventing this dangerous canine parasite can be as simple as administering a monthly oral treatment.
Trifexis and Heartgard Plus both provide month-long protection against the development of heartworm, as well as preventing hookworms and roundworms. Trifexis has the additional benefit of protecting against whipworms, and treating flea infestations by killing adult fleas, eggs and larvae.
Trifexisis for use only with dogs and puppies at least 8 weeks of age, weighing 5 lbs (2.3kg) minimum.Heartgard Plus may be given to dogs and puppies from 6 weeks, with no weight restrictions.
As with all medications, you should consider if these products are suitable for your dog’s needs. Trifexis has not been tested as safe for use with breeding males, and should be used with caution on pregnant females. When used as directed, Heartgard Plus is safe for use with pregnant and breeding dogs.
